We are thrilled to announce the presentation of the prestigious VAL Medal, in collaboration with the VRTA’s annual awards. Echoing the excitement of the AFL Brownlow Medal, our esteemed MC and resident VAL race caller, Oliver Wurm, will guide us through the exhilarating journey of each VAL meeting, unveiling the athlete votes accumulated throughout the season. This captivating journey will culminate in the crowning of the VAL Medal recipient, the athlete who has garnered the highest number of votes across the season. Votes are meticulously allocated by VAL Handicappers & Stewards after every event on the calendar, with all athletes, including those from interstate, eligible to receive votes (excluding U18 & U14 races).
But the celebration doesn’t end there. The VRTA awards shine a spotlight on excellence, honouring athletes, coaches, and clubs for their outstanding contributions. With over ten awards up for grabs, including recognition for ‘Athlete of the Year’ and ‘Meeting of the Year’, the evening promises to be a celebration of talent and dedication.
